Russian road commercial transport
The Russian business consulting website reported on February 11 that according to data from the analysis of the Russian road freight market compiled by BusinesStat in 2019, the value of the Russian road commercial transport market increased by 7.7% to 84.9 billion rubles in 2018. The increase in turnover in the road commercial transport market was mainly due to the increase in cargo turnover.
In 2018, the commercial cargo turnover of Russian road transport was 139.5 billion ton-kilometers, exceeding the 2017 index by 5%. The road freight industry is very sensitive to the real economy. Since the beginning of 2017, the demand for transportation has increased. This is due to the improvement of the Russian economy and the adaptation of commercial conditions to new conditions and import substitution of goods. And vehicle transportation is a popular way to supply goods to large retailers.
In 2018, the average profit rate of commercial freight transport in Russian road transport increased by 2.5% over the previous year, reaching 5.8 rubles per ton-km. The main reason for the increase in this indicator is the increase in the price of fuel, spare parts and components, which are usually purchased in foreign currency.
In 2019-2023, the profitability of road commercial freight will increase by an average of 5.7% per year, and by 2023 will reach 7.7 rubles per ton. The increase in profitability will be due to the further increase in the price of motor fuels and spare parts, and the renewal and expansion of the transportation fleet.
