The Trend Of Unmanned Driving
"Unmanned driving" has become more and more frequent in people's field of vision in recent years. From the beginning of the idea to the fact that major mainstream companies have been showing trial vehicles, they are proving that unmanned vehicles will gradually dominate. It is the trend of the logistics industry, and with the beginning of the 5G era, this smart technology will develop more rapidly.
The Tesla electric semi-trailer "semi", which is well known in the industry, has been receiving attention since its release in November 2017. The price of this vehicle also ranges from $150,000 for the 300km start-up version to $180,000 for the 500km high-end version. Although the purchase price is higher, the car has a charging system, compared with the consumption of diesel in ordinary vehicles, it can still save a certain cost. And Tesla applies the driver assistance system Autopilot to the vehicle, which features automatic emergency braking, automatic lane keeping and lane departure warning. Tesla's "semi" is expected to be put into production this year and will be delivered in 2020.
Volvo, the world's second-largest truck manufacturer, announced in September 2018 an unmanned electric truck, Vera, whose main feature is the automatic driving system, all operations are automatically realized by the system, and even the cockpit nothing. It is worth mentioning that Vera is able to operate around the clock, helping to create continuous logistics operations with higher delivery accuracy.
In 2017, Tucson's future L4-class driverless truck completed a 10,000-kilometer real environmental road test mileage in Hebei. In the future development of unmanned truck driving technology, Tucson adopts four modules of sensing, positioning, decision and control to ensure the safety of the entire unmanned system. And Tucson will receive a $95 million financing from Sina Capital at the beginning of this year. It is expected to expand the size of driverless trucks to 40 this year.
In February 2019, the unmanned artificial intelligence company Feibu Technology expressed its strategic cooperation with China Post EMS and Debon Express and jointly established a number of L4-level unmanned logistics lines. Three months after launching the line, it has entered the stage of normalized joint operations. This is also the first unmanned freight car in China to carry out daily operations.
In addition, Jingdong, Debon, Suning and other companies have also launched unmanned trucks. Although most of the public vehicles are still in the conceptual or experimental stage, from the unmanned delivery vehicles in the cities that have already been on the road, Unmanned vehicles are an efficient investment in logistics, and all major companies are eager to wait.
