Regular Inspection and Accessories Maintenance of Semi Truck Dump Trailers
1. Monthly inspection of the semi truck dump trailer
(1) Check the tightness of all suspension parts (according to the torque data provided);
(2) Check if there is any breakage of the leaf spring;
(3) Check whether the joints and hoses of all brake systems are damaged, and whether the hose clamps are missing;
(4) Check the proper operation of relay valves and other valves;
(5) Check the wear of the tension rod bushing;
(6) Check the brake drum for cracks or abnormal wear;
(7) Check whether the lubricating oil of the axle will leak;
(8) Check all fasteners, focusing on those used for outriggers, tires, semi trailer axle parts, etc. (in any case, nuts, screws and other fasteners should be tightened according to the recommended torque parameters);
(9) Check the wear of the traction pin;
(10) Check whether the brakes are normal;
(11) Lubricate the outriggers, traction plate and traction pin;
(12) Lightly lubricate the brake camshaft and slack adjuster;
(13) Check whether the joints of the side wall panels, door panels, and top panels come unglued.
2. Overhaul of flywheel ring gear of semi truck dump trailer engine
A common damage failure is difficult starting caused by tooth end wear and fracture.
Check the teeth of the ring gear for dents and scratches. Generally, the gear ring can be used in a semi truck dump trailer after it is worn out. If it is severely worn or broken, it should be replaced with a new gear ring. When removing and repairing the ring gear from an old car, use an oxyacetylene flame to heat the side of the ring gear toward the engine, and then knock off the ring gear. Be careful not to knock on the flywheel.
When the vehicle is overhauled, the gear ring needs to be exchanged back and forth, heated and press-fitted, and the heating temperature should be uniform during hot-fitting, and the temperature should not exceed 350°C to avoid annealing the flywheel ring gear.
3. Introduction to the use of battery, handbrake and ABS indicator for semi truck dump trailers
(1) The battery indicator of the semi truck dump trailer
The battery life of a new trailer is at least two years, but if it is a used trailer or a stock trailer, you need to pay attention to this indicator in advance. This light is also on during vehicle self-checking and goes out after starting. If the indicator light is always on after starting, it means that the battery of the semi truck dump trailer needs to be replaced.
(2) Hand brake indicator for semi truck dump trailer
The most common mistake a novice makes is that the trailer is powered on but the handbrake is not released. The indicator light is circled, and it is usually off. When the handbrake is pulled up, the indicator light of the semi truck dump trailer will automatically be on. At present, only some models have a warning sound that the handbrake is not released when driving.
(3) ABS indicator light of semi truck dump trailer
The ABS light does not flash when the engine is turned on or does not go out after starting, indicating that the ABS is malfunctioning.
