Maintenance of Semi-trailer in Winter
Winter has arrived, and the low temperature, rain and snow bring a lot of inconvenience to truck drivers. The maintenance of trailers and matters needing attention for driving is very important to ensure the normal completion of transportation operations in the cold winter. Therefore, how should the semi trailer be maintained in winter?
1. Snow chains are "seat belts" for trailers
There are snow and ice beside the cold weather in the winter, and the road conditions are worse than in other seasons. The nuclear load ranges from dozens of tons, and the braking distance will be longer. Regardless of whether it is a full trailer or a semi trailer with the nuclear load ranges from dozens of tons, the braking distance will be longer. If a trailer with dozens of tons drives on icy and snowy roads in winter, once it slips out of control or rollers over, it will cause serious consequences. The snow chains can be regarded as the seat belts for tires. The snow chain can increase the grip and play an anti-skid effect.
2. Check the gas connection
The cold weather in winter will shrink the rubber or plastic seals at the joint of the sealed pipe joint, or even freeze it. Before pumping up the semi trailer, it is necessary to carefully check whether the sealing of each joint is good to avoid the problem of air leakage, please replace it if there is any damage. If there is a leak, you can just reinstall it. The easiest way to effectively check the joint seal is to touch the interface by hand and shake it to see if there is any looseness.
3. Tractors and trailers should be regularly drained
Even the fuel tank can be frozen in extremely cold weather. At low temperatures, the compressed gas that has just out of the compressor will easily produce droplets or humid gas when it is cold, which will cause water to accumulate in the pipeline and the gas tank. It is safer to keep the habit of regularly releasing water in winter. And if the water is not released in time, the humid gas inside the gas tank will enter the valve body. If the temperature is too low, it will cause the brake pipe or the inside of the valve body to freeze, so as to cause the pipe and the piston in the valve body to be blocked, and eventually lead to brake failure.
4. Antifreeze and maintenance of relay valve
In winter, once there is water in the gas pipe or the gas tank that enters the emergency relay valve, it will freeze in the pipe or the relay valve without gas under low temperature. In addition to regularly draining the gas tank of tractors and trailers, it is best to replace the gas tank regularly, and the air filter element should also be cleaned or replaced in time. In case the emergency relay valve freezes to death during driving, wood, wrench, or other sticks could be used to tap the relay valve or the low-lying point of the air supply pipe a few times. In this way, the ice inside can be loosened. And then pour hot water on the top of the relay valve or the air supply pipe to melt the ice.
