Semi Trailer And Full Trailer
The total weight of a trailer borne by itself is called a full trailer, which is also called a trailer for short. Characteristic: It has no power and bears independently. The vehicle trailer driven by other vehicles is a kind of unpowered road vehicle which needs to be pulled by the vehicle for normal use according to its design and technical characteristics. It is used to carry people or goods.
Full trailer or semi-trailer does not have its own power device, and the automobile train composed of them and tractor belongs to the category of automobile. A semi-trailer is a trailer with axles placed behind the center of gravity of the vehicle (when the vehicle is evenly loaded) and equipped with coupling devices that can transfer horizontal or vertical forces to the tractor. That is, part of the total weight of the trailer is borne by the tractor. Its characteristics: it has no power, bears with the main vehicle, and relies on the main vehicle for traction.
1. Tractor Trailer
Tractor-trailer is a trailer with at least two axles. It has: one axle can be steered; the tractor is connected with the tractor through an angular moving tractor; the tractor can be moved vertically and connected to the chassis, so it can not withstand any vertical force. Semi stock trailer with a hidden bracket is also used as a tractor-trailer.
2. Bus trailers
Bus trailer is a tractor-trailer used to carry personnel and their carry-on baggage in its design and technical characteristics.
3. Drawbar Truck Trailer
Tractor truck trailer is a tractor truck used to carry goods in its design and technical characteristics.
4. General Tractor Trailer
General tractor-trailer is a kind of traction trailer which carries goods in open (flat) or closed (box) cargo space.
5. Special Tractor Trailer
Special tractor-trailer is a kind of tractor-trailer, which is used according to its design and technical characteristics. It can carry people and/or goods only after the special arrangement. It only performs certain specified transport tasks (e.g. passenger trailers, fire trailers, low flat trailers, air compressor trailers, etc.).
The difference between semi-trailer and full-trailer
Full Trailer generally consists of frame, body, traction device, steering device, suspension, walking system, braking system, signal system and so on.
Semi-trailer: The axle is placed behind the center of gravity of the vehicle (when the vehicle is evenly loaded) and equipped with a trailer that can transfer horizontal or vertical forces to the tractor. It has no power and bears the vehicle driven by the main vehicle together. The length of the semi stock trailer shall not exceed 17 meters, except for the semi stock trailer.
The Trailer with (steerable) front wheels is called full trailer but without front wheels. The Trailer with trailer front is called semi-trailer.
